Heroquest – The nostalgia rush

I will never not be nostalgic watching this advert.

Whenever it would come on, I’d rush to the telly and not blink for the next 30 seconds, trying to catch every detail. My imagination was already well and truly hooked on fantasy but had so far been restricted to books and cartoons, the idea of playing a fantasy game blew my tiny little mind. Little did I know, that Heroquest (a collaboration between Games Workshop and Milton Bradley) was intended to be the gaming equivalent of a gateway drug and it worked.

Christmas 1991. My brother and I got a copy of the game, and whilst my brother was mostly indifferent to it as time went on, it suckered me in and started what would be my biggest hobby to date.
